Care for your piece
A few careful steps will keep the crown, brim, color, and satin lining looking as intended.
Steam Lightly
Work slowly and keep straw away from direct steam.
Test First
Try any moisture or cleaning method on a hidden section.
Never Summerge Straw
Water can collapse the weave and distort the brim.
Dry Flat
Keep every style away from direct sunlight and heat.
Material Guide - Wool
Handcrafted in small batches from 100% Australian wool and lined in premium satin. Cared for, it holds its form season after season.
Shaping
01
Dented
Steam the crown until the fiber softens. Push the dent out from inside with your fingertips, shaping as you go. Hold until cool and set.
02
Warped Brim
Steam lightly. While warm, lay the brim flat and press it under even weight if necessary. Hold it in place until cool.
Cleaning
01
Spot Clean
Use short, counter-clockwise strokes with an unused, soft brush, following the nap. For a mark, dab with a barely damp cloth.
02
Oil and Product
Sprinkle cornstarch over the affected area. Leave it for a few hours, then brush it away. Repeat as needed until the mark is no longer visible.
03
Full Wash (Wool Only)
Only wash a wool hat if its product care label explicitly permits it. Never submerge a structured pillbox hat. Dissolve one teaspoon of mild, non-bleach detergent in cold water. Spot test first. Submerge for up to thirty minutes, then rinse in cold water.
04
Dry
Pat with a clean towel, lay flat, and air dry well away from direct sunlight or heat.
Before a full wash
Check the care label for the specific style. The current pillbox guidance is spot clean only. If the label does not explicitly allow full washing, do not submerge the hat.
Material Guide - Straw / Raffia
Handcrafted in small batches from natural straw and lined in premium satin. Cared for, it holds its form season after season.
Shaping
01
Dented
Steam the crown from a distance, never directly against the source. Once softened, push the dent out from inside with your fingertips. Hold until cool.
02
Warped Brim
Steam lightly while keeping your distance. While warm, lay the brim flat under light, even weight. Leave it until fully dry.
Cleaning
01
Spot Clean
Use short, counter-clockwise strokes with a soft brush, following the weave. For marks, dab with a barely damp cloth. Test a hidden section first because dyed straw can release color.
02
Oil and Product
Sprinkle cornstarch on the mark. Leave it for a few hours, then brush it away. Repeat until the spot is gone.
03
Dry
Pat dry, lay flat, and air dry away from direct sunlight or heat.
Never Sumerge
Check the care label for the specific style. The current pillbox guidance is spot clean only. If the label does not explicitly allow full washing, do not submerge the hat.
